Dyscalculia Screening (8+)

Fee: £275

Suitable for children, teens and adults, a comprehensive dyscalculia screener offers an accessible first step in understanding what may be holding a learner back in mathematics. It provides valuable insight into how they process numerical information, helping everyone involved to support progress and confidence more effectively.

What is Asessed?

  • Mathematics & Numeracy: Core mathematical skills including number sense, arithmetic fluency, and basic problem-solving.

  • Visual–spatial reasoning: Non-verbal problem-solving skills that support pattern recognition, spatial understanding, and mathematical reasoning.

  • Auditory memory: The ability to recall numerical information presented verbally (e.g., numbers, sequences, arithmetic facts).

  • Working memory: The capacity to hold and manipulate information in mind, such as remembering intermediate steps during a calculation.

  • Background information: Developmental and educational history gathered via questionnaires, including any reported challenges in mathematics.

  • Additional assessments if needed (e.g., language or motor skills) for a holistic view.

  • Observation and discussion to understand your child's learning style and thought process.

The Report & Follow-Up Consultation

Drawing on the background information and performance across the screener tasks, the report provides a clear profile of mathematical strengths and areas requiring further support. It includes an overview of performance in each domain assessed, along with tailored recommendations for strategies and interventions that can be implemented at home, in school, or in the workplace.

It is important to note that this screener is not a diagnostic assessment and therefore does not confirm or rule out dyscalculia. Instead, it highlights areas of potential difficulty and indicates whether further investigation would be beneficial. Where the screener suggests significant challenges, the report will advise whether a full diagnostic assessment by a specialist is recommended.

Your report will include:

  • Interpreted scores, formulation, and tailored recommendations to support progress

  • Documentation to support Exam Access Arrangements (e.g., JCQ Form 8)

  • Guidance on whether further diagnostic assessment or professional input would be beneficial, helping families and settings move forward with confidence.

  • 30-minute follow-up consultation to discuss the findings in detail, answer your questions and explore practical ways to implement the recommendations.
