DYSCALCULIA ASSESSMENT
Price - £595

Understanding persistent maths difficulties and identifying the right support
Many children and adults experience persistent difficulties with mathematics despite appropriate teaching and good ability in other areas. A specialist assessment can help identify the underlying reasons and provide clarity about the next steps.
Many people search for a "dyscalculia assessment". In practice, assessment explores the full range of persistent maths learning difficulties and may identify Developmental Dyscalculia or Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) in Mathematics, depending on the individual's learning profile.
what is dyscalculia?
Developmental dyscalculia is a Specific Learning Difficulty that primarily affects numerical magnitude processing and the development of number sense.
However, not every persistent maths difficulty is dyscalculia. Assessment may also identify Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) in Mathematics, where mathematical learning is affected by a broader pattern of cognitive strengths and difficulties.
The purpose of assessment is to understand why maths is difficult, so that appropriate support can be put in place.

when should you consider an assessment?
You may wish to seek assessment if you or your child:
-
Continue to struggle with basic number concepts
-
Find it difficult to understand quantity and place value
-
Have difficulty learning number facts despite repeated practice
-
Rely on counting strategies long after peers have moved on
-
Find mental calculation particularly challenging
-
Experience significant anxiety around mathematics
-
Show a marked difference between mathematics and other areas of learning
WHERE DO ASSESSMENTS TAKE PLACE?
Assessments are typically conducted at our central location in Caversham, with parking onsite. Parents/partners are welcome to remain in the assessment room, or come and go as needed.
A short break is built into the session and many people choose to get some fresh air, with shops and cafés just a short stroll away.
Assessments can also be arranged in local schools. For some children, being assessed in a familiar setting during the school day can feel more comfortable.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER
THE ASSESSMENT?
You will receive a comprehensive written report within two weeks of the assessment, including:
-
